The Philippine Farmers and all the Philippine people are very friendly and loving ,most are very large familys with great family values. I am American and married to a great Philippine lady ,her name is Josie and we have a son John who is attending medical school in Las Vegas. Our Philippine family is very large as Josie has 1 sister and 2 brothers and they have 13 children, in total we have 43 niece's and nephew's ,plus Mama and Papa. The family has been farming for many years as a source of income,as many Philippine people do in our area as there is no other work or industry.Last year my brother -in-law farmed about 1 hector or 2 acres, his crops were eggplant and string beans after harvest his gross income for his crops was $300.00 ,less his seed and fertilizer cost and not labor he netted about $150.00 to feed, clothe ,school, and pay utility bills for his family of 7 children himself and wife. Most of the farmers like Alex are high school Grads or less and their knowledge of business and marketing is not the best all they know is hard work and low pay. As you may have seen in the pictures these farmers don't have tractors,or tillers they only have a cow to pull a wagon to market and hand tools like a hoe and pick to turn the soil to plant their crops. What we are doing is trying to get local churches and groups to supply tillers and hand tools as well as seeds , and we are teaching the farmers to use these ,as well we are teaching them to grow their crops organically with the water cast from the fish tanks saving the cost of water and fertilizers and producing quality ,healthy fruits and vegetables. We are also helping them with best ways to market their crops, which crops will pay top dollar, and how to manage their business. You ask whats in it for us ??? nothing as im retired and have a good retirement income, and I get the satisfaction to see these wonderful hard working people be able to send their kids to school and live a comfortable life, as they are my neighbors and friends, brothers and sisters . I gave to the church funds for years and found out it only helps the mission people to live a good life abroad while trying to convert these great people. If in your heart you would like to help a farmer and his family please contact us for full details ,we dont want a hand out just give them a hand up and they will repay you with interest . Also if you would like to visit the farms we would be very happy to take you and let you meet them and have a wonderfull vacation at the same time in this paradise .
